The BC Solid Waste Research Collaborative (the “Collaborative”, or BC SWRC) is a network of collaborators from industry, government, academia and the non-profit sector using applied research to tackle BC’s municipal waste & resource management questions.

The Collaborative facilitates research projects in three main ways:

  1. Coordinating round table discussions throughout the year, gathering participants face-to-face to generate connections and research projects.
  2. Providing an online platform to catalyze project connections and increase the sharing of information. This website is meant to be a digital meeting place for participants to connect, submit research ideas/interests, share information and research outcomes.
  3. Maintaining a database of interested participants, organizations and research interests/questions, making introductions where there are shared interests.

A part-time Coordinator manages these activities under the direction of a multidisciplinary steering committee.

The SWRC is open to all who want to contribute to solid waste minimization and sustainable resource management in BC. While the Collaborative does have a regional focus, its overall goals complement and support those of the National Zero Waste Council.

How can you engage? You can register as a participant, complete our participation survey and/or suggest a new research project.
